HP INC. INSPIRES CREATIVITY WITH INKING AND MODERN DESIGNS FOR TODAY’S STUDENTS AND TOMORROW’S REINVENTORS

At the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2017, HP Inc. has announced a new lineup of Pavilion laptops with sophisticated designs and features to inspire today’s students and tomorrow’s reinventors. The new Pavilion convertibles and laptops deliver a rich set of features and performance options previously reserved for higher-end products, including the addition of premium materials like 3D metal to help remove all visual seams, USB-C for more connectivity options and active pen support to bring Windows Ink to life on Pavilion x360s. Additionally, in anticipation of the Creators Update from Microsoft and Windows Ink technology available on the new Pavilion x360, Coachella Festival Music and Arts Festival attendees will be able to interact with the PC in new and unique ways, witnessing how the entire HP portfolio provides unforgettable immersive experiences when technology, art and music come together.

“We are evolving our portfolio of products to meet the needs of everyone from today’s students to digital creatives, as their usage and interactions with computing devices continue to change,” said Anne-Sophie Hadberg, head of consumer personal systems EMEA, HP Inc. “Today’s Pavilion products take proven innovations from our premium lineup and provides end users with the ability to play, create, connect and entertain.”

The new Pavilion x360 gives customers what they want – mobility and flexibility in a convertible PC. Pavilion x360s not only morph into four modes, but also infuse premium materials and features like 3D metal to help remove all visual seams, USB-C to enable more connectivity, and active pen support to bring Windows Ink to life. Windows Ink allows users to interact with content in new ways and quickly turn thoughts into action – create lists, sticky notes, and draw your ideas directly onto the screen. To highlight just how interactive, versatile and creative the Pavilion x360s with Windows Ink allow users to be, the 2017 Pavilion x360 will headline a Bandana Inking experience in the HP LOUNGE at Coachella. Festival attendees will have the ability to design their very own custom bandana, and HP graphic printers bring it to life allowing what is created to be printed on-the-spot and put into people’s hands before heading to see the next big artist on stage. The 2017 Pavilion x360s are offered with an 11.6” HD IPS display, or 14” or 15.6” diagonal screen options with HD or Full HD IPS.

The latest Pavilion laptops bring amazing new designs inspired by HP’s premium Spectre and ENVY lineup. In bringing quality new designs to the Pavilion portfolio, HP is able to offer its Pavilion customers scalability and performance. The use of 3D metal, a single piece of metal that wraps around the sides and back of the PC effectively removing visual seams, on the 2017 Pavilion laptops adds durability and an elegant look while the combination of hues, finishes, and textures give the PCs a more sophisticated look. The incorporation of a lift hinge, previously reserved for ENVY products, provides a more comfortable typing experience, but also more efficient airflow to the bottom vents. With a design engineered for functionality, the combination of comfort for end-users and airflow for performance makes Pavilion perfect for users who are creating their own videos and editing photos, then sharing them on social media. The new portfolio of Pavilion notebooks are offered with a 14”, 15.6” or 17” diagonal screen options with Full HD or Full HD IPS displays2 and the option to add touch.

HP’s Pavilion x360 and Pavilion laptop devices feature a wide range of configuration options to meet the needs of the consumer needing the reliability to connect and get things done or be entertained. ParaBlu introduces BluVault integration with OneDrive for Business

Cloud data protection and management solutions provider ParaBlu today announced the availability of BluVault, a secure endpoint data backup solution for users of Microsoft's OneDrive for Business service. The next-gen solution is aimed at enabling enterprises to use OneDrive for business as a backup target for endpoints.

Thanks to its integration with OneDrive for business, BluVault can automatically back up user data from endpoints to their respective OneDrive for Business storage accounts. It works in conjunction with Parablu's CASB solution - BluKrypt - which encrypts data streams using the customer's encryption keys before writing it to the OneDrive cloud - thus making the security even more robust. The solution is claimed to offer a 100% defence from ransomware and other malicious attacks.

The Parablu solution, which can be deployed on-premise or hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud, is claimed to reduce endpoint backup costs by as much as 70% as compared to existing on-premise or cloud based solutions. Existing MS Office 365 customers who already have a One Drive subscription can use the solution without any extra storage costs. The solution is scalable and can effortlessly scale up to cover more than 100,000 endpoints.
"OneDrive for Business make it easy to manage your work files, share them and collaborate from any device. Parablu enriches OneDrive for Business with customizations for backup, security and scalability enhancing the cloud experience for customers", remarked Narendra Bhandari, general manager, developer experience and evangelism, Microsoft India.

ParaBlu's CEO Anand Prahlad said "Enterprises, at just a fraction of their current cost, can now deploy a solution that gives them 100% protection of their data on endpoints, 100% utilization of their OneDrive for Business subscriptions and 100% scalability across geographies and devices."

How to prevent unauthorized computer access

Most users are interested in taking steps to prevent others from accessing their computer. Whether it be to protect yourself from malware or to ensure that your private information is safe, having a secure computer can definitely provide peace of mind. The following sections detail many ways you can secure you computer against others. To proceed, you may read through each section or choose one that interests you from the below list.

Passwords

password
Make sure a password has been set for your computer's operating system. The best way to keep someone out of your accounts and personal information is to not let them on your machine in the first place. You can always create additional accounts for guests. Information on how to carry out these actions can be found in the following linked pages.

Helpful password tips

  • Never keep a default password. Passwords such as "password," "root," "admin," or no password at all allow easy access to your computer or Internet accounts.
  • Change passwords often. It is recommended at least once every few months.
  • Create a BIOS password.
  • When creating a password, add numbers or other characters to the password to make it more difficult to guess; for example, 1mypassword23!.
  • Do not use sticky notes around your computer to write down passwords. Instead use a password manager.

Get a hardware or software firewall

Picture of 3Com SuperStack 3 Firewall
We highly recommend all computer users have a firewall solution. There are two ways a firewall can protect your computer and network.
  1. Hardware firewall - A hardware firewall is a physical device that is connected to your network. Often, many users who have a home network can use their network router as a firewall solution. A good example of a network security device with a firewall and other security options is the ZyXEL ZyWALL (shown Above).
  2. Software firewall - A software firewall is a software program that you install on your computer to helps protect it from unauthorized incoming and outgoing data. Keep in mind that a software firewall is only going to protect the computer on which it has been installed. Additionally, many antivirus scanners include their own version of a firewall program.

Microsoft Windows firewall

If you are running any version of Microsoft Windows after XP, there is a firewall build into your operating system.

Common firewall programs

The following list contains many common firewall programs for users who do not have an antivirus program with one, or just want additional security.
  • Agnitum Outpost Firewall
  • BlackICE PC Protection
  • Kerio Personal Firewall
  • Sygate Firewall
  • Tiny software Tiny Personal Firewall
  • Network Associates
  • Zone Labs Zone Alarm

Operating system and software patches and updates

Software updatesThere is no such thing as perfect software. Programs often have compatibility issues or vulnerabilities that can compromise your computer's security. Software patches, updates, and drivers are made available, often for free, to consumers to help keep a software program and operating systems running properly and secure.
If the program you're using does not have any method of checking for updates on its own, it is up to you to verify the program is up-to-date. Often this can be done by visiting the website of the developer who created the program. A listing of third-party companies and links to each of their pages can be found on our third-party support page.

Malware protection

Trojans, viruses, spyware, and other malware can monitor your computer and log keystrokes to capture sensitive data such as passwords and credit card information.
To help protect your computer from these threats, we suggest installing both virus and spyware protection programs.

Run system scans to check for vulnerabilities

There are several online sites that can help check computers for potential threats. Either of the below services will scan your computer for vulnerabilities.

Gibson Research Corporation - The Gibson Research Corporation, or GRC, is a great location to learn about network security as well as well as test your computer or network for vulnerabilities.
Hacker Wacker - Another great site with computer security related information, help, and programs to help test your computer and network.

Know how to handle e-mail

Today, e-mail is one of the most popular features on the Internet. Being able to identify threats sent through e-mail can help keep your computer and your personal information safe. Below are some of the most common threats you may encounter while using e-mail.
  • Attachments - Never open or run e-mail attachments from addresses with which you are not familiar. Viruses, spyware, and other malware are commonly distributed through e-mails that have attachments. For example, an e-mail may want you to open an attachment of claiming to be a funny video, when it's really a virus.
  • Phishing - Phishing or an e-mail phish is a message that appears to be from an official company (such as your bank) indicating you need to log onto the site to check your account settings. However, the e-mails are really sites setup to steal confidential information such as your passwords, credit card information, social security information, etc. See the phishing definition for additional information about this term as well as examples of these e-mails.

Alternative browser

Before the release of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 7.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer was notorious for security and spyware related issues. Although it has improved since then we still highly recommend considering an alternative browser such as Mozilla's Firefox or Google's Chrome.

What Is Meant By Phishing And How To Protect YourSelf

Pronounced like fishing, phishing is a term used to describe a malicious individual or group of individuals who scam users. They do so by sending e-mails or creating web pages that are designed to collect an individual's online bank, credit card, or other login information. Because these e-mails and web pages look like legitimate companies users trust them and enter their personal information.

 Example Of Phishing.

Dear eBay customer,

Your Account has been Suspended. We will ask for your password only once. We will charge your account once per year. However, you will receive a confirmation request in about 24 hours after the make complete unsuspend process. You have 24 hours from the time you'll receive the e-mail to complete this eBay request.
Note: Ignoring this message can cause eBay TKO delete your account forever.

To make unsuspend process please use this link:

http://fakeaddress.com/ebay

eBay will request personal data(password;and so on) in this email.
Thank you for using eBay!
http://www.ebay.com/
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This eBay notice was sent to you based on your eBay account preferences. If you would like to review your notification preferences for other communications, click here. If you would like to receive this email in text only, click here.

To a user who frequently uses eBay or any online service, these e-mails may appear as if they have come from the company described in the e-mail. However, these e-mails are designed to make a user want to click a link that helps them steal personal information such as usernames, passwords, credit card, and personal information. Below are some helpful tips on identifying these e-mails and how to handle them.

How to identify a phishing e-mail.

  1. Company - These e-mails are sent out to thousands of different e-mail addresses and often the person sending these e-mails has no idea who you are. If you have no affiliation with the company the e-mail address is supposedly coming from, it is fake. For example, if the e-mail is coming from Wells Fargo bank but you bank at a different bank.
  2. Spelling and grammar - Improper spelling and grammar are almost always a dead giveaway. Look for obvious errors.
  3. No mention of account information - If the company were sending you information regarding errors to your account, they would mention your account or username in the e-mail. In the above example, the e-mail just says "eBay customer", if this was eBay they would mention your username.
  4. Deadlines - E-mail requests an immediate response or a specific deadline. For example, in the above example, the requirement to log in and change your account information within 24 hours.
  5. Links - Although many phishing e-mails are getting better at hiding the true URL you are visiting, often these e-mails will list a URL that is not related to the company's URL. For example, in our above eBay example, "http://fakeaddress.com/ebay" is not an eBay URL, just a URL with an "ebay" directory. If you are unfamiliar with how a URL is structured, see the URL definition for additional information.

What To Do If You Are Not Sure If An E-mail Is Official.

  • Never follow any links in an e-mail. Instead of following the link in the e-mail, visit the page by manually typing the address of the company. For example, in the above example, instead of visiting the fake eBay URL, you would type: http://www.ebay.com in your web browser and log in to the official website.
  • Never send any personal information through e-mail. If a company is requesting personal information about your account or are saying your account is invalid, visit the web page and log into the account as you normally would.
  • Finally, if you are still concerned about your account or are concerned about your personal information, contact the company directly, either through their e-mail address or over the phone.

Issues Phishing E-mails Commonly Address.

  • Account issues, such as account or password expiring, account being hacked, account out-of-date, or account information needing to be changed.
  • Credit card or other personal information, such as credit card expiring or being stolen, incorrect social security number or other personal information, or duplicate credit card or other personal information.
  • Confirming orders, such as a request that you log in to confirm recent orders or transactions.

Common Companies Affected By Phishing.

  • Any major bank
  • Popular websites such as Amazon, Facebook, MySpace, PayPal, eBay, Microsoft, Apple, Hotmail, YouTube, etc.
  • Government: FBI, CIA, IRS, etc.
  • Internet service providers such as AOL, Comcast, Cox, MSN, etc.
  • Casinos and lottery.
  • Online dating or community websites.

Am A Victim Of A Phishing Attack, What Should I Do?

If you've read this page too late and have already fallen for a phishing attack log into your account from the companies page and change your password immediately. Also, it is a good idea to scan your computer for malware in case the site has infected your computer. Finally, if the company supports two-factor authentication, it is also a good idea to enable this feature on your account.
If you believe your personal information such as your social security number, credit card number, phone number, address, or full name has been stolen it is also a good idea to watch all of your accounts for suspicious activity.

10 Internet Tips And Tricks You Should Know

You don't need the http:// portion of a web page

When entering an Internet address you do not need to type http:// or even www. in the address. For example, if you wanted to visit website Hope you could just type stechmobile.com.ng and press enter. To make things even quicker, if you are visiting a .com address you can type stechmobile and then press Ctrl + Enter to type out the full http://www.stechmobile.com.ng address.

Take advantage of tabbed browsing

Take full advantage of tabbed browsing on all Internet browsers. While reading an article or browsing a website, you may come across a link that interests you. Any link to another page can be opened in a new tab so it does not interrupt your reading. To perform this action, hold down the Ctrl key and left-click the link. If you have a mouse with a wheel, click the link by depressing the wheel instead of rolling it. Either of the methods opens a link in a new window.

Quickly move between the fields of a web page

If you are filling out an online form, e-mail, or other text field you can quickly move between each of the fields by pressing the Tab key or Shift + Tab to move back a field. Top 10 Keyboard Shortcuts You Should Know In Windows And Mac

Using keyboard shortcuts can greatly increase your productivity, reduce repetitive strain, and help keep you focused. For example, to copy text, you can highlight text and press the Ctrl + C shortcut. The shortcut is faster than moving your hands from the keyboard, highlighting with the mouse, choosing copy from the file menu, and then returning to the keyboard.

Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Insert and Ctrl + X

Both Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Insert will copy highlighted text or a selected item. If you want to cut an item instead of copying it, press Ctrl + X. This action removes the text or item and stores it in the clipboard for you, rather than just copying it to the clipboard while leaving the original behind.

Ctrl + V or Shift + Insert

Both the Ctrl + V and Shift + Insert will paste the text or object that's stored in the clipboard.
On Apple computers, use Cmd + V instead.

Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y

Pressing Ctrl + Z will undo any change. For example, if you cut text, pressing this key combination will undo the cut. These shortcuts can also be pressed multiple times to undo or redo multiple changes. Pressing Ctrl + Y would redo the undo.
On Apple computers, use Cmd + Z and Cmd + Y to undo and redo.

Ctrl + F

Pressing Ctrl + F opens the Find field, which allows you to search the text currently displayed in any program that supports it. For example, Ctrl + F can be used in your Internet browser to find text on the current page. Press Ctrl + F now to open the Find in your browser and search for "shortcut" to display each time shortcut is mentioned on this page.
On Apple computers, use Cmd + F to find.

Alt + Tab or Ctrl + Tab

Pressing Alt + Tab switches between open programs moving forward. For example, if you have your browser window open and other programs running in the background press and hold Alt and then press the tab key to cycle through each open program.
On Apple computers instead of using the Alt key use the Command (Cmd) key. For Example, Cmd + Tab to switch between open programs.

Ctrl + Back space and Ctrl + Left or Right arrow

Pressing Ctrl + Backspace will delete a full word at a time instead of a single character.
Holding down the Ctrl key while pressing the left or right arrow will move the cursor one word at a time instead of one character at a time. If you want to highlight one word at a time, hold down Ctrl + Shift and then press the left or right arrow key to move one word at a time in that direction while highlighting each word.

Ctrl + S

While working on a document or other file in almost every program, pressing Ctrl + S saves that file. Use this shortcut key frequently if you're working on anything important in case an error happens, you lose power, or any other issues that could cause you to any work since the last save.
On Apple computers, use Cmd + S to save a file.

Ctrl + Home or Ctrl + End

Ctrl + Home will move the cursor to the beginning of the document, and Ctrl + End will move the cursor to the end of a document. These shortcuts work with most documents, as well as web pages.
On Apple computers use Command and the Cmd and the up arrow to get to the beginning of a document or text or Cmd and the down arrow to get to the end of a document or text.

Ctrl + P

Control + P is used to open a print preview of the page or document currently being viewed. For example, press Ctrl + P now to view a print preview of this page.
On Apple computers use Cmd + P to open the print preview.

Page Up, Spacebar, and Page Down

As you may have guessed, pressing either the page up or page down key will move to the next or previous page. When browsing the Internet, pressing the spacebar moves the scrollbar down a page. Similarly, Shift + spacebar moves the scrollbar up one page.

Windows 10 - Microsoft just shared some MAJOR news about virus, malware for your PC

Microsoft has shared its latest Security Intelligence Report.

The research shows that almost all Windows 10 PCs are now running anti-virus software, thanks to the in-built Windows Defender app that's switched on automatically – unless an alternative anti-virus app is installed by the user.

Thanks to the inclusion of the Windows Defender app, the "unprotected rate" of users has plummeted to a meagre 3 per cent of PCs that Microsoft updates.

Historically, Microsoft has always been a little reluctant to build-in protection for its users, partly because of anti-trust threats from the software companies behind anti-virus apps
Back in 2006 – when half of all PCs were unprotected – McAfee and Symantec both threatened anti-trust lawsuits when news of Microsoft's plan to include Kernel PatchGuard in Windows Vista                                                                                                                       Ahead of the launch of Windows 7 in 2009, AVG told ZDnet in an interview, "At this point, we're watching in Brussels to ensure they don't bundle [anti-virus software] with Windows and trigger about a trillion lawsuits."

Unfortunately, the aftermath of that approach means 28 per cent of Vista PCs and 20 per cent of Windows 7 PCs still in operation are still unprotected.

With Windows 10, the main problems contributing to unprotected PCs are users failing to update their devices, turning off the bundled anti-virus software – or simply snoozing it.

Another factor that is likely to put many Windows 10 users' minds at ease is the fact that Microsoft's brand-new browser, Edge, has much better security than Internet Explorer...

run Microsoft Windows or the Mac OS. While files can be shared between these two types of systems, they
are generally incompatible.
The tutorial on this page will explain how to use a Pc with Windows 7
Windows Features :
Most PCs run on an operating system called Windows. These particular tutorial deals with the Windows 7
professional version of the Windows operating system. The operating system is what allows you as the user to
access the information in the computer. To understand how to use a computer, it is important to know several
features of the Windows system.
Desktop
The desktop is the area you see when the computer is not running applications. It consists of the icons
on top of it, as well as the Start button and other features. The desktop can be used to temporarily
store information or to move around documents and windows.
Icon
Icons are little pictures that represent different programs or saved items. Double-clicking on the icon

Window
Each application opened will appear in its own window, or its own little section of the screen. Windows

Dialogue Box
When you ask the computer to do certain commands, such as to save your work, the computer will
need more information from you, and this will appear in a dialogue box. These boxes contain options
and commands for the computer to execute.
Start Menu
In the lower left-hand corner of the Windows screen is the Start button. When you click on the button
a menu will appear, which we will call the Start menu. This menu gives you access to all the different
parts and functions of the computer.
Task Bar
At the very bottom of the screen is a horizontal bar called the task bar (Figure 1). This bar contains
(from left to right) the Start button, shortcuts to various programs, minimized programs, and another
section of shortcuts that includes sound volume, printers and the time.

Tab menus, which are often present in dialogue boxes, are menus that represent many different “pages”
